The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a standardized examination for prospective medical students in the United States, Australia, and Canada. It is designed to assess problem-solving, critical thinking, and writing skills, as well as knowledge of science concepts and principles prerequisites for the study of medicine. However, dentists do not need to take the MCAT.
To become a dentist, one must complete a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree program. These programs typically take four years to complete and include coursework in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and clinical dentistry. After graduating from dental school, dentists must pass a national board examination to become licensed to practice.
